Madbury Transfer Station Hours

Located at 25 Pudding Hill Rd

Open from the last Saturday in April and closes on the third Saturday in November.  Monthly hours are 9:00am – 4:00pm on 1st & 3rd Saturdays, as well as 4:00pm to dusk on the 2nd Wednesdays.
For the last Wednesday Session on November  12, 2025, the attendant will open at 2pm and close at dusk. 


 

Transfer Station no longer accepts metal.

For the 2026 season, the Madbury Transfer Station will not be accepting metal for recycling or disposal.  All Madbury residents are able to recycle metal (as well as other recyclables) at the Dover Recycling Center just minutes down the road.
Dover Recycling Center hours are: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Curbside Waste Collection is done by:

    All rubbish should be outside by 8 am on:
  • Thursday, east of and including Rt. 155
  • Friday, west of Rt. 155.
Holiday Schedule:  If your scheduled trash day is on a holiday, it will be picked up the following day.
Holidays:  New Year's, Memorial, July 4th, Labor, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
 
No loose rubbish is allowed.  All rubbish must be bagged.  Voluntary recycling pickup, must be packed separately.

NOTE:  Residents have the option of hiring a different waste collection service, but will be subject to that company's rates.

 

Recycling

Besides curbside recycling provided by John Davis Jr. (above) the Dover Recycling Center at 265 Mast Rd. is open to Madbury Residents.

The City of Dover Recycling Center is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:30am-3:30pm. Updated 4/2025

Madbury Transfer Station Regulations, May 2010

Note:  These regulations are under review for updating.

This is to inform the residents of the Madbury Solid Waste Ordinance adopted on March 10, 1981 as it relates to the use of the Madbury Transfer Station.

PERMITS are issued to residents by the Town Clerk and are renewed every two years or when determined necessary by the Select Board.  A fee $1.00 will be assessed for each permit.  If your permit is not current, one should be purchased as soon as possible during regular Town Office hours.  Permits should be affixed to the windshield of any vehicles entering the transfer station facility.  HOURS established by the Select Board are the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and the second Wednesday of each month from 4:00 PM to dusk.  Months of operation are last Saturday in April through November.  Illegal entry is prohibited and violators may be subject to a fine.

MATERIALS delivered to the landfill must be separated into the following categories and deposited in the designated areas as directed by the Attendant.

a) furniture
b) yard waste (leaves, clippings, and twigs)
c) yard waste (limbs under 4 inches and brush)
d) yard waste (limbs 4 inches and over)
e) stumps (limited number -small and portable)
f) metals
g) other non-putrescible household Items

Transport of items to be disposed of is limited to a vehicle trunk, pickup truck or small trailer.

PROHIBITED WASTE includes waste not accepted at the Lamprey Regional Cooperative and the following:

a) Human and animal wastes such as dead animals, feces, septic waste or sludge.
b) Toxic or hazardous waste such as those containing lead, cadmium, or other herbicides, etc. and those so identified in the Federal Register 40CFR 261, May 19, 1980.
c) Asphalt shingles
d) Any waste may be excluded by the Selectmen to maintain. the safety of the Transfer Station.

FEE SCHEDULE: As of May 1, 2007 the following items will not be accepted and should be disposed of at the DOVER RECYCLING CENTER (516-6073) on Mast Road in Dover:

a) Tires;
b) Freon Items;
c) Computer Monitors;
d) Scanners/Printers/Copiers & Laptops, and
e) Construction Debris. There is a disposal fee that must be paid by check.

NON-CONFORMANCE with the terms of the Ordinance may be reported to the Select Board and persons found to be in violation may be subject to a fine not exceeding $100.00 per violation and/or revocation of the Transfer Station permit.

THE ATTENDANT is present to carry out the Ordinances and maintain order. Your cooperation with his directions will help to create a smooth, safe, and efficient operation.
The above regulations are intended to give you the information needed to help us operate a safe and approved transfer station facility.  Continued state approval of our operation is needed and your cooperation is appreciated.
